Meet our Executive Team

Gavin Batty – Deputy Chief Executive Officer

Gavin is the Deputy Chief Executive Officer and a senior postholder. He re-joined Barnsley College in January 2021 as Vice Principal for Technical and Professional Education, having spent the previous four years as Director of Curriculum and Operations at one of the largest FE College Groups in the country. He took up his current role in 2023.

Gavin has responsibility for the strategic development and growth of the College. He is the College’s executive lead for the development of the new South Yorkshire Institute of Technology and has oversight for many of the day-to-day operations of the College.

Gavin has worked in the education sector for over twenty years, the last ten at senior and executive level. He is also a contracted Ofsted Inspector, Chair of the Local Skills Improvement Fund Partnership Board and a member of the Inclusive Economy Board.
